Welcome to the City of Florence, Mississippi.  We are located ten miles south of Jackson.  I am Robert (Bob) Morris, the mayor of Florence, and my vision for the city is to make it a safe, prosperous community.

Our city is within a short driving time of the municipal airport, all professional sports, excellent schools, cultural events, and other major attractions.  As Jackson’s neighbor, Florence has experienced phenomenal but controlled growth over the past twenty years.  During this period, the board of alderman for the city and myself have dedicated ourselves to developing an infrastructure that satisfies both present and future growth.  The economic growth of the city is one of my top priorities.  As a city we have been successful in attracting new businesses and are taking strides to attract even more.  There are successful shopping centers in place and we have plans for more.  The quality of life has always been an important part of Florence.  A diverse group of churches, schools, housing and public access to other amenities are at the forefront of our lifestyle.

The city of Florence has long attracted businesses and industries because of its excellent access by interstate highway transportation, because of the easy availability of all utilities, and because the city is just twenty minutes from the Jackson International Airport which has numerous connections to a variety of American cities.  Florence provides a good labor pool for a wide variety of employers.  The business community is excited about the opportunities and potential of the city.  We have impressed business leaders with what has happened during the past several years, and everyone is optimistic about our future.
