FYSA continues to grow and develop. We continue to see an increase in participation numbers. This growth has introduced issues that the organization must address in order to support our children. Sustained growth is a result of hard work from the players, parents, and coaches. We need to continue to work together for the benefit of the program. Our biggest success is the enjoyment our children realize as they play this wonderful game. We all have an integral part in their development not only as soccer players, but as individuals.

We want to focus on areas of improvement as we also address issues that we’ve encountered. Some of these issues/improvements include:

ุ Development of our Referees – We do have a lot of young referees that are willing to support the league. Working with our Referee Assigner, Shelby Cannon, coaches, and parents, it is our intention to help our referees gain valuable experience and knowledge. In order to build this experience, we need to get our referees on the field in game situations and provide support/training to these kids. It’s the leagues responsibility to develop the referees and the players, parents, and coaches responsibility to support these referees. Your feedback is valuable. We also ask that everyone involved understand that this is a process of development. If you have suggestions for improvement or issues, address those with the Referee Assigner and the FYSA board, not the referees.

Age Group Training – FYSA took some steps toward further training for the U8 and U10 age groups. There are plenty of opportunities here that the league wants to incorporate into the development of our kids. Your suggestions are welcome.

Division 2 – MYSA has provided leagues with an opportunity to create challenge teams for U10-U19 age groups. FYSA is interested in building on the success from this past year. We continue to improve our Division 2 program, and will expense of our league programs.

Player/Coach/Parent development – FYSA perception is based on board member, referee, player, coach, and parent behavior. We have been fortunate that we have had to address few issues related to behavior, but issues do come occur. We (board members, players, coaches, referees, and parents) share this responsibility. Our behaviors do impact the children of FYSA and we need to make sure our focus is based our children’s enjoyment and development as soccer players and young men and women.

It’s easy to say – Let’s remember that this organization exists for the development of our children. Our challenge is to live to these words.

We will make every effort to support this league and its participants and would appreciate your feedback. Thank you for your continued support and for the opportunity to work with you in the development of the children involved in this program as well as the continued improvement of FYSA. We look forward to another enjoyable season.

Thank You

Scott T. Riebock
FYSA President
